Canon are not hanging around. The camera giant seems intent on refreshing their entire line-up and this time it’s the more budget-friendly end of the line-up that get’s a refresh. Canon have announced their new R7 and R10 mirrorless cameras
32.5mp APS-C Sensor
The R7 packs a 32.5mp APS-C sensor and their Digic X processor. The famous Dual Pixel Autofocus makes an appearance and video shooters will be impressed by the 4k/60p. Possibly just as impressive is the inclusion of 10-bit footage using C-Log 3 – a very impressive feature on a relatively ‘entry-level’ camera.
Other key features include Image Stabilisation, HDR video and dual SD-card slots. With the body weighing in at just 612 grams, this is certainly a pocket powerhouse on paper and we look forward to seeing more from the full production models.
Launch Price of $979
In addition to the R7, Canon have also released their R10, with a launch price of $979.00 – it’s over $500.00 cheaper than it’s R7 counterpart, coming it at $1499.00. Obviously, the lower price point means that the specs are also slightly lower. Resolution is dropped to 24mp and in-built image stabilisation has been sacrificed.
Video Features
Video shooters might begrudge the lack of C-log and the removal of the headphone jack in the R10 but oversampled 4k/60p remains, which is fantastic at his price point. Weight is also reduced to 426 grams (body only) which will please those looking for a more compact, lighter option.
Canon’s dedication to the mirrorless system feels more complete with the addition of these two cameras to their line-up and speculation is that more may be on the way. Check the full mirrorless line-up on Canon’s website and as always, we will keep you notified of any new launches.
